Hotels in Madinah

Madinah is the city of the Prophet ﷺ and home to Masjid an-Nabawi, the second holiest mosque in Islam. Most pilgrims spend several nights here before or after Umrah, praying in the mosque, visiting the Rawdah and seeing Quba Mosque and Mount Uhud.

The central area around the mosque is compact, and many hotels sit within a few minutes’ walk of its gates. The northern side, close to the women’s entrances and the main shopping streets, is especially popular with families, while hotels on the southern and western sides are close to Al-Baqi and the Quba road.

Where to stay in Madinah

Central Area – North

Hotels facing the northern courtyards and gates, many within a two- to five-minute walk. Popular with families because of its closeness to the women’s prayer areas and the main shopping streets.

Central Area – South & West

Close to the Bab As-Salam and Bab Jibreel side, the Rawdah entrances and the road towards Quba. Convenient for pilgrims who want to visit Al-Baqi and join the prayers from the front of the mosque.

Central Area – East

Next to the Baqi al-Gharqad cemetery and the eastern gates, with a range of mid-range hotels a short walk from the mosque.

Quba

Around 3.5 km south of the Prophet’s Mosque, near Quba Mosque, the first mosque built in Islam. Quieter and often better value, with taxis and buses to the centre.

Best time to visit Madinah

The cooler months from November to February are the most comfortable, with pleasant days and cool evenings. Ramadan is the busiest and most spiritually significant time, and demand also rises before and after Hajj. Summer temperatures are very high, so staying close to the mosque matters even more.

Travel tips

  • Visits to the Rawdah require a booked slot through the Nusuk app — reserve as soon as your dates are confirmed.
  • Prince Mohammad bin Abdulaziz Airport (MED) is about 20 km from the centre; the Haramain train station is around 15 minutes away by car.
  • Hotels on the north side near the women’s gates are usually the most convenient for families praying separately.
